Meet Sarah

Sarah Riddell is a Central Saanich Councillor, local healthcare leader, community volunteer, runner, and mom who believes local government can make a meaningful difference in people's everyday lives.

Sarah and her partner, Evan, are raising their two young children in Brentwood Bay. Whether running local trails, organizing community events, cheering from the sidelines, or talking with neighbours, Sarah loves being part of a community where people know each other, get involved, and care deeply about the place they call home.

Professionally, Sarah is the Executive Director of a local non-profit healthcare organization and one of the Saanich Peninsula’s largest primary care providers. She previously held leadership roles with the Province of British Columbia and has nearly two decades of public-sector, leadership and governance experience. She holds master’s degrees in Health Administration and Public Administration and has built her career around bringing people together, navigating complex issues and turning good ideas into practical action.

Since being elected to Council in 2022, Sarah has focused on turning community priorities into results, from a new splash pad, multi-sport box and parkland, to child care, more affordable housing options, safer streets, and new sidewalks, trails and multi-use paths. Her work has included bringing local farmers’ ideas and concerns to the provincial stage, advocating for stronger local healthcare, and championing the protection of Brentwood Bay through both advocacy and tangible solutions.

Sarah brings a grounded, collaborative approach to Council. She is present and accessible, listens, asks questions, does her homework, and works to understand an issue from all sides before making a decision. On difficult issues, she works to balance competing needs, perspectives, and priorities, recognizing that good decisions often require compromise to find a path forward that serves the community as a whole. Sarah believes good local government means looking after what we have, delivering on the things that matter to residents, and planning thoughtfully for the community our children will inherit.
