I love Central Saanich for what it already is: a connected community with strong neighbourhoods, incredible farms and natural spaces, vibrant villages, and people who care deeply about where they live. My focus is on making the practical improvements that matter in people’s everyday lives while protecting the things that make our community special. That means safer streets, great places to gather and play, housing and services that meet local needs, strong farms and businesses, and responsible decisions about infrastructure and public dollars. Across all of it, I will keep listening to different perspectives, looking for common ground and turning good ideas into action.

 

Safe, Connected Neighbourhoods

Everyone should be able to move around our community safely and easily, whether they are walking, biking, driving or taking transit. I want to keep moving forward the sidewalks, trails, multi-use paths and safer crossings residents have been asking for, while tackling traffic and road-safety concerns with practical solutions that fit our neighbourhoods. That means paying particular attention to the places people use every day: routes to schools, parks and village centres, busy intersections, missing connections, and neighbourhood streets where small improvements can make a big difference.

Great Places to Gather, Play and Belong

Parks, recreation and public spaces are part of what makes a community feel like home. They give kids places to play, create opportunities to be active, and bring neighbours and generations together. I want to build on investments in new parkland, the splash pad, multi-sport box and other amenities, while continuing to improve our parks, recreation opportunities and village centres. Sometimes small, practical improvements can make a big difference in how people connect and enjoy where they live.

A Community Where People Can Put Down Roots

Central Saanich should be a place where people at different stages of life can find a home and be part of the community. We need thoughtful housing choices that make room for young people and families, create options for residents who want to downsize and stay close to the people and places they know, and respond to local needs while respecting what people value about their neighbourhoods. Housing also can’t be considered in isolation. I will continue working with partners and advocating for more local health care, child care, transit and other essential services that help people build full lives and thrive here in Central Saanich.

Strong Farms and a Thriving Local Economy

Agriculture is a huge part of what makes Central Saanich special, from our food security and economy to our landscape and identity. I will keep supporting the protection of agricultural land and listening to the people who farm it. I’ve engaged closely with local farmers and helped bring their ideas and concerns to the provincial stage. Strong local businesses matter too. I want our village centres and commercial areas to stay lively, useful and welcoming places where local businesses can succeed.

Responsible Decisions for the Long Term

Looking after Central Saanich means taking care of what we have, planning ahead and being disciplined with public dollars. Our roads, water and sewer systems, facilities and other infrastructure are aging and will need ongoing replacement. Staying ahead of that work helps keep people safe, avoids costly emergencies and lets us spread investments over time so costs are more manageable and predictable. The same long-term thinking applies to the environment, from protecting natural areas, shorelines and Brentwood Bay to preparing for a changing climate and building a more resilient community. I believe in setting priorities, getting good value for public dollars and making thoughtful, affordable decisions that will serve the community well for years to come.
